| SPOKES - A Cognitive Approach to Reading Comprehension |
| In the SPOKES Reading Comprehension approach, students are taught to consciously choose and apply task-specificstrategies to accomplish 6 tasks critical to reading with a high level of comprehension. Using systematic, explicit instruction, over time, the student is expected to integrate this strategic approach to all six tasks while reading increasing more challenging material including required classroom text. Materials include a Teacher's Manual, Student's Handbook, and practice disk. Forthcoming work will include materials applying SPOKES to the other langauge arts--writing, speaking and listening.
